I agree with Ricer.

Wireless g is the most common in use today.   If she's going to be using wireless 
at Starbucks and other public wifi locations, then wireless g is exactly the right 
choice, because that's what they all use.  If possible, make sure you get a wireless 
g card that is capable of WPA2 encryption; some of the older ones aren't.  She won't 
need that for public wifi, but she will need it if she's trying to connect wirelessly 
at any security-conscious location (e.g., her workplace.)
