Hey guys.
I have a similar problem.
I'm running out of disk space, and I used the NTFS compression on several folders
within the Windows dir, so I guess this is why it happened.
Ever since I did that, explorer no longer starts on its own (btw, it started crashing
a lot in the last week or so). I just get to the wallpaper and the computer hangs.
If I run it as a new task from task manager, no problem, it starts up and everything
works just fine, and incredibly it doesn't crash anymore!!!
I just decompressed the folders I compressed, and I think it will work just fine.
But it would be interesting if any of you could tell me which folder in the Windows
dir (and in the Documents and Settings dir) I should NOT compress and which folders
are SAFE to compress.
Reinstalling Windows at this time is not an option for me. No time and no diskspace
at the moment for repartitioning, and no funds for a new, bigger hard drive...:-)
Using XP Pro with SP3
Thanks in advance.
