You could look for a similar model Compaq from a few years back if they made one, and just experiment with some of the XP Drivers from way back. If the Laptop has a big enough Drive you could also make a Dual boot setup, with a Crippled XP install on one Small Partition, and a fully functional Vista on the Bigger Partition.
