I tried the experiment of disabling the NIC card in the Device Manager. I did not
wish to uninstall the driver since I am not too experienced and could have problems
if Windows does not detect and re-install the adapter automatically. The experiment
was a failure, unfortunately. The event 11 errors remain.
Incidentally, I realized that I do have an ERUNT backup dating to the period before
all problems occurred! It is in the image I backed up over a month ago, and DriveImage
permits the extraction of individual files. I browsed the concerned .xml file and
found what I was looking for. However, the Registry problem is a minor one. I will
do something about it later. Right now I need to spend some time *using* the computer!
Thank you for patiently reading my posts.
