If this user's been on IE all this time, who knows. One thing that may give a clearer picture is a HJT log. It may not be anything malicious per se, just something known to be problematic. I've been analyzing those logs, since it first came out. As you know I don't much anymore, but if I'm unsure of something I'm not too proud to say so. It's entirely up to you, and you know a system needs to be malware free before you install SP2.
