CD is missing from my DVD/CD burner Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 3:35 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by Neil Murphy (5 messages posted) I have two burners 1) Sony DRU-500A & 2) HP DVD Writer 300n. Both are capable of burning CDs as well as DVDs. They both should be marked DVD/CD-RW Drive. However, the Sony has lost the /CD which means that Win Media Player won't use it because it doesn't recognize it as a CD burner. Both Nero and Record Now will use it. The last time this happened I "fixed" the problem by reinstalling XP and the other software. At this time I'm not that desperate.
