Also while I kept trying to run the XP setup it did pass atapi.sys once allowing me to go to the recovery console, but chkdsk didnt work with c: /r (could be a syntax error on my part?). Fixboot reported that it had worked but it didnt solve the unmountable_boot_volume. I was afraid to use fixmbr due to the warning messages.. and now it reports that atapi.sys is faulty again, and the times it passes atapi it reports faulty files later before I can access recovery. Should I try to find another XP CD and if possible then use fixmbr or should I send the comp to professionals (could take weeks which I dont have atm)?
