I suspect your new drive would have been damaged sooner or later otherwise. Two things: Search (inet) for hardware failures using the Lenovo model number or mother board number. If that problem is widespread (design flaw) you may only get another year of service out of that pc. However, I imagine IBM would be aware of such a flaw by now and give you a revised or comparable (but different) board.
