IDK what method you're trying to use, but this works great for me: Step 1: http://www.speedtest.net/ Choose a site that is nearest to your location and it will be finished in a minute or so. Remember this result, so that you can compare it to your post-tweak speed. Step 2. Go to http://www.speedguide.net/ and use the menu on the left side to navigate to Broadband > Broadband Tools > SG TCP/IP Analyzer. All the results of this test *should* all be green, indicating that your network settings are optimized. If any of the results are red, then your settings aren't optimized. But it should offer suggested settings. Write down any suggested settings. Step 3. Download SG TCP Optimizer from the same site, at this link http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php (freeware, stand-alone program that doesn't need to be installed) First thing to do after you run this program is to make sure your network adapter which you use for internet is selected from the dropdown list (all on the General tab, ignore the rest of the tabs). Next, set the slider at the top to the download speed that you're paying for, in Kb/s. My download speed is 5 MB/s. So for me, I set the slider number to 5000. Next, at the bottom, change the radio button to "optimal settings". TCP Optimizer will adjust your network settings in accordance to the speed you just chose on the slider. . Click "Apply Changes" and REBOOT. Step 4. Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and run it again, from the same server as you chose the first time. You should see a definite improvement in performance of your upload / download speed, as compared to when you first ran it in step 1. I would recommend doing step 2 again as well, to make sure all settings are now in the green. If not, you can enter the recommended values into TCP Optimizer. Always REBOOT after applying any additional changes. I hope this helps you.
