I don't use this computer very often and I _suspect_ that the problem occurred after a failed SP3 update attempt. The first symptom was an inability to use the internet from Explorer. I checked the cabling and did ping tests and found that I can get to the IP address of popular sites, but DNS was failing. I eventually researched this to a MTU problem and did the recommended tests to bring the MTU to acceptable (i.e. working) levels, but every time I do the procedure the MTU that "worked" in the previous test no longer works and only smaller MTU's will result in DNS working. If I change the MTU to the new value, it fails to work at that level after the computer reboots. At this point I'm considering punting and re-building the box..... *sigh* John
