It actually seems that the Logitech mouseware software is causing the problem. If I uninstall that, the problem goes away. However, I still need mouseware for it's anti-mouse-acceleration properties, so I think I will just bear with this problem for now and look to buy a new non-Logitech mouse in the near future.
