I have a Comment about Remove
the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant (ClickOnce) Firefox Extension:

This extension is also added for Chrome. But it is easy to remove. If you are not using .NET 3.5 (true in 90 % of cases I would say), just use Add/Remove Programs to remove ".NET framework v3.5 SP1". and it removes the registry entry and the AssistantExtension. Yes, its a pain to have to do this every time there is an update for earlier .NETs... But you can choose not to be notified about the .NET update (until the next one at least) if you untick it when you choose "Custom Install" for updates If you ARE using .NET 3.5, well you have to follow the instructions in the article...
