Thanks for responding. It took forever to get this page to come up after hitting refresh over and over. Ok, I have a compaq presario-I used a fresh install of WinXP-says it has service pk 2, but service pk 2 is not installed. I think that is what is trying to update, but stalls out after about 3 minutes. My explorer is 6.0 now and still have no virus protection because it won't download. I guess I should try to start over. Thanks for the suggestion.
