Damaged BOOT.INI file...

Hi:
Could anyone advise me what are the precise steps to rebuild a damaged BOOT.INI?
Here is a brief description of my PC-system & the problem:
- have a DUAL-BOOT set up with WIN98SE & WIN-XP when WIN-XP is installed on a SEPARATE
Drive formatted with NTFS file system
- Pentium II with 512 RAM.
The DUAL-BOOT was working perfectly UNTIL I decided to uninstall one of the useless
Utility-'gadgets' of my COMCAST Cable Modem Local Area connection: I noted that
the uninstallation process took unusually long and I suspected a problem with it.
Surely enough, after that I could NOT properly boot my XP NTFS-formatted Drive (which
was set up as the DEFAULT booting Drive), and after running the Restore Console with
its many features for 'fixing' the Boot.ini file, I still can NOT access or properly
boot the XP NTFS-formatted Drive EXCEPT when I'm using the Command Prompt at the
Restore Console: I can get the Drive Directory listing but I do NOT know how I could
use it to rebuild/repair the Boot.ini.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...!
Thanks.
