Norton sometimes uses up a
lot of CPU resources.
If that's the case then temporarily disable Norton thru it's control panel. Norton
tends to have 3 or 4 independent processes running when it's running on your system
I use Eset's NOD 32 and Sunbelts Counter Spy for my needs
