No, I would never allow Norton on any machine I own, and it is 
definitely not responsible for dmadmin.exe, which is a MS file and
integral to Windows XP. It should not be removed but it should
run only when a disc partitioning process is in progress. Anyway, 
PeterD's solution for returning it to its normal sleep condition worked.
