yes thank you to the both of you. I ran norton 2009 utilities to clean files, etc. and found a unusual number of problems that it was able to correct. The pages seem to be working better now. I am running internet exploer 8. It seems that with every window I open in internet exploer there is a responding iexplore.exe for every window open. Is that the norm? If I end process of each iexplore.exe then another window I have open will close and that iexplore.exe is gone. I believe the security is pretty safe on this computer for I observe all files download and seem to have to pass through norton 2009. Like I said I am in school for information technology and have the basic knowledge I think to be aware of most attacks and how they happen. NOTE that I an just starting, my major is information systems security. If problems continue I may switch to firefox and if norton is not doing the job for malware then I may purchase a malware detection program. If you have not suggested one already in the replys I would appreciate some advice on a quality program. I am aware that not all programs are what they are cracked up to be. The unsualness that I did not state earlier is that my cpu usage drops to 1 or 2% after I open task manager then I close it turn right around and open task manager agin and cpu usage is back to 100% thendrops to 1 or 2% as long as I leave task manager window open. It seems strange that the cpu would drop back to normal as long as I leave task manager open and I watch it when I change pages and it stays within normal range. I find it veryu odd that the task manager window would appear to stop the cpu usage it makes me think that malware maybe in place. I understand that some programs allow people to use your computer without effectinhg much of its process therefore aloowing these people to go seemingly undetected to the untrained person. By no means am I that experienced. But give me a year more in school and I should have things down pat. Thank you for your help.
