I'd say that there's a bigger issue here - Microsoft exercise their right to install
anything they want, for whatever reason, on your system. For the occasional time
that I need to access internet (using XP mostly for games - this is for checking
info, asking questions, or downloading patches etc) I don't want to have to work
this hard to fix it up.
The simplest answer for me is to just use something else - I have Opera which is
the most secure browser. However, I find it extremely offensive that Microsoft can
get away with undermining Firefox! This should simply be removed and refused.
