I didn't actually do this, but I'm curious to know how to fix it, should it happen.
I searched all over the web looking for an answer, and couldn't find one.
I understand that if I'm downloading say a .jpg file, and I accidentally uncheck
the "Always ask before opening this type of file" option, it's a pretty easy fix.
I just need to open an explorer window, choose the Tools menu, then Folder Options,
then click on the File Types tab and choose JPG, then click on the Advanced button,
and check "Confirm open after download".
Easy enough.
But, here's my dilemma. If I was downloading an .exe file, and I accidentally unchecked
the "Always ask before opening this type of file" option, it's impossible to fix,
because EXE is not listed in the File Types list.
The best information that I found on how to fix this was in this KB article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;140991
But, it states, that it only works with Internet Explorer 4.0, and earlier.
So, my question is, how do I get the "Always ask before opening this type of file"
option back, for downloading an .exe file after it has been unchecked, in Internet
Explorer 6 and above?
