Account corruption is not uncommon. Don't understand why both would go bad together,
yet not the guest account.
But one way to deal with corrupt accounts is to create a new one, move data from
the old to the new, then delete the old account. Don't try to rename the new account
to the same name as the old one after deleting it.
In this situation (if it happened to me), I'd restore my last good image file, and
be done with both problems in just a few minutes.
