Maybe a driver problem or possibly it does not like that brand of disk, on occasion 
some drives can just not work well with a certain disk maker. I would uninstall the 
drive in device manager and let it reinstall on reboot first, if you use a burner 
outside of XP's integrated one reinstall that to. If you still have trouble try a 
different disk maker.
