Snipe,
I see your advice helped a lot of people. I thought it was gonna help me. I followed
it all (surprised me that I could!) and ended up with 2 "Plug and Play Software Device
Enumerators" so I ended up changing one of them back to "ISAPNP Read Data Port".
Should I have just deleted it, like others said?
In the course of doing this, I saw that I had an "!" before "Serial Cable using IrDA
Protocol" in Systems Devices. I uninstalled then reinstalled it, and it ended up
in Infrared Devices. Eventually, it ended up with the "!" again. When I troubleshoot
it, I get, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code
43)”
Also, when I try to put a default device for Sound Playback and Sound Recording in
Audio Device Properties, those boxes are gray, can’t be clicked on and say “No Device.”
But when I look in Device Manager and click on the various devices, they all say,
“This device is working properly.” But I have no Volume icon.
Grrr.
Anyone able to help me with my “Serial Cable using IrDA Protocol” wrinkle?
Thanks!
Lisa
