The files are your priority - I'm assuming you don't have backups :-( Trying to get Windows working again may risk those files, so you have three options: 1. Get a Puppy Linux CD, boot from it and copy your files to external media such as a flash drive. Or . . take out the HDD and either: 2. Pop it into a USB enclosure (cheap !) and read the files from another PC. 3. Mount the HDD in a desktop PC and read the files that way. Later, once you have your files safe, you can address why your PC isn't functioning or do the System Restore (but you may find you have hardware issues). Hope this helps.
