Desktop Pic Files Don't Open Anymore Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 7:49 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by jpChris (5 messages posted) Hi all, I can't open any picture files from my Desktop (.jpg, .gif, .png). However, if it's in a folder, everything opens fine. All movie files will open from the Desktop, it's only pic files. When I right-click the file and select to open in Paint, no problem. Another thing I noticed is that when I right-click the pic and select "Open With...", when I tick the "Always use the selected program..." Win Pic & Fax Viewer comes up, it says No Preview Available: And, the box doesn't stay ticked. What I've tried: CCleaner, EasyClean, and the run command, regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\shimgvw.dll. So far, no good. I know this has been answered somewhere before, I just can't find it. Help, please.
