Make folder window stop finding files

A feature of a folder window is that if you type a letter the cursor will jump to a filename that starts with that letter. This messes with a macro activation I wish to use (in Marco Express) where a set of hot keys starts up my macro. Does anyone know how to make the folder window stop jumping to a different filename as I type letters? Roger
