Crazy problem. I use Movie maker which is part of windows xp system. Created a folder on my desktop, and dropped 9 Mpegs into it to compile a movie. Using movie maker, I dragged the first 3 clips and with an opening the clips and an ending I created an abreviated movie and compiled it into a real movie to show to a friend so he could get an idea on the hows and whys. Cut and pasted the completed movie into the desktop and transferred it to a flash drive to take it to his house. Job done. A few days later, I went back to do the complete movie, and went to my folder still sitting on the desktop. Surprise. All 9 Mpegs were gone and replaced with the 3 MSWMM clips and the beginning and and ending credits. Can't find those missing Mpegs anywhere. Never touched the folder in the interim. Is this by design, or are they hidden in some secret part of windows never to be seen. Would really like to get those clips back.. Jack...
