Question about 'Remove the Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant (ClickOnce) Firefox Extension'

Is it necessary to remove still "Microsoft.net Framework Assistant" from Firefox, if, when I click on "Extensions" there is a big red exclamation point over Microsoft.net and it reads: "not compatible with Firefox 3.5.5". Has this incompatibility made it superfluous to uninstall?
