winxp pro
di514 dlink router
trendnet wireless nic (desktop)
problem:
dying router that makes my wireless connection slow. after trying to update nic's
driver, connection stopped working, so reinstalled with trendnet software cd. connection
works for computer wired to the router, but wireless computer has slow to none connection,
even after reboots. all work was done on the wireless computer:
symptoms:
1. after reinstall of wireless software, teredo adapter started to show in ipconfig.
disabled with: netsh interface ipv6 set teredo disabled (ok)
2. client services for netware and ipv6 unavailabe to install or uninstall in properties
of wireless connection (said .inf file was not found).
3. put open dns's # into the wan.
4. ip is dynamic, channel change doesn't help.
5. using trendnet's software (updated firmware) to connect.
6. reboot doesn't help speed.
does the client for netware and ipv6, both unavailable, have anything to do with
the slowness or timeouts? if so, how can i reinstall them (both install and uninstall
are unavailable)? yes, i know i need a new router, but trying to track down this
problem in the meantime.
