Did you reinstall the same printer driver package and software package (s) on the 
laptop as you have on the desktop?  If one machine has a different driver version, 
that usually is the cause of the error.  Example..  One machine is running a driver 
from Microsoft (update) and the other is running a driver from the printer manufacturer. 
 Otherwise, you can tell your laptop to get the driver from the desktop machine if 
you go through the acquire  driver process.  (that isn't always done automatically)

Just a guess without more information on what has or hasn't been installed on each 
machine...
