Yes, download the driver from HP.  The MS drivers rarely enable all of the printer's 
features.  Typically, the MS drivers are there until or unless the manufacturer updates/releases 
a driver for the printer.  It's just to get it functioning with basic settings and 
features.  If that doesn't work, then it means that there may be a permissions problem. 
 Make sure that file and print sharing are installed/enabled on the laptop.  After 
a reinstall or recovery, it typically won't be..  If none of that works, it will 
get more complicated.
