Windows Live mail has an option to turn high resolution photo attachments into a
thumbnail image with a link to an uploaded version of the full image file. These
thumbnails apparently are displayed in a slideshow format which might cause that
hourglass issue with viewing these email messages if the Windows Live server is congested.
You might try including an email filter that chooses to delete the offending emails
(or better, move them to a folder that you created so you can review them yourself
before deleting.) What I did was took emails with "http://public.bay.livefilestore.com"
in the body and moved them to a "test" folder that I created. I don't know for sure
if all the emails from Windows Live senders include this but it seemed like a good
bet and worked on my test email that I did. It filtered only Windows Live emails
with picture attachments but not other Windows Live emails.
Hope that helped some.
