I have found a solution that worked for me very well, without losing the functionality
of using "My Bluetooth Places" from the tray icon. This solution was tried in windows
7. This should work well with other operating systems also. The solution is below
:
Solution
Click the "Start" button, and type "regedit" in the search box, then press Enter.
Browse the list as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace.
In the right pane, locate the sub-key with the default value of My Bluetooth Places.
Delete this sub-key.
Press F5 to refresh your screen, and then the icon will be gone.
