Thanks for your response.. to elaborate, I cannot access Device manager from Control
Pannel.. it refuses to open, I get an error message saying that it encountered a
problem.. I also tried using the "run" option and that failed too... I'll look into
those scans that you recommended, I have done a full system scan with AVAST.. and
found one virus, which I removed, but maybe your suggestion can help. Since I cannot
open Device Manager, that has prevented access to all system devices and thus my
problem. I wish I could reinstall windows, but I have to recovery disc and since
there is no CD drive on this device, it makes this difficult.. I'll let you know
how the scan works and appreciate any other suggestions..
