Hello,
I didn't read the whole thread, but in the very beginning (Thursday, October 10,
2002 at 1:01 pm), I already found part of the solution when HC said the following:
"You could try a right click on a blank area on your taskbar goto properties then
untick "Hide inactive icons"
it may help ".
It looked to me so straight forward and too simple to be a valid solution. I almost
missed it... (Shame on me: always try simplest solutions first!)
My problem was that some of the tray icons of my well known applications running
was not present in the system tray (even when clicking on the small arrow on the
left side of the tray bar to expand the hidden icons). The only way I had to make
them reapperaing in the tray was to restart the application with the processexplorer
from the sysinternals tools... That was before the advice from HC, but with some
complement:
In Win XP, right click on a blank area on your taskbar, goto properties then TICK
"Hide inactive icons". When ticking it, a button 'Customized' on the bottom right
side of the tab is made active (inactive if unticked). If you click on this button,
you get the list of the tray icons that are present, but also those that are hidden
and also some other 'old' icons.... I selected my missing icon and changed the status
from 'Hide when inactive' to 'Always show'. This made my icon reappearing in the
tray.
That's it.
Thanks HC from 2002!
