Hi , hope this is not too late . I had the same problem "Windows autoplays any CD
into an explorer window but does not read the autorun.inf file instructions" . After
trying the stuff mentioned over this page (which is a real encyclopedia on the subject)
, the solution was so unusual .
I had a string in the registry placed in ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf] , with the value :@="@SYS:DoesNotExist")
. I deleted the autorun.inf key and the machine was back to normal.
Now I am not sure about what is normal ! Although I am CONCLUSIVE that this key should
not be there (having compared with other machines), it is really an incridible measure
to kill any autorun.inf spread from any device (CD or USB) attached to the machine
! Any way , CDs are autoplaying now. I hope this will help.
