I have a question about My Taskbar has disappeared - how do I get it back?:

Ok I have read many of the answers on the forum and I still can't get my taskbar back. This started immediately after a reboot from MSN update. If I open my home page with the desktop Icon, I do not have a taskbar. If I open the home page from the start menu I can see the taskbar at the bottom of the screen as normal. Why would this be possible? How do I get the desktop icon to open IE with the taskbar showing? **I can not "stretch it from below the window page. **When I go to the control panel is is not checked to"hide the taskbar" . Help is very, very appreciated. Mary
