Oh. $7 is not bad. :)
I saw $19.95 somewhere on the PCMag.
And actually, the software suppliers provide the goods for free.
That is right. Other than a free "publicity"/ad/honorable mention, they get ZILCH.
It's the PCMag cashing in. -Did you know the PCMag library used to always
be FREE?
Yes! They used to make their money on SUBSCRIPTIONS based on ADS and READERSHIP (is
that a word?)/circulation. But that requires writing worthwhile articles (aka HONEST
WORK).
So, yes. I would be screwing someone. But it would not be the software developers.
It would be the magazine/website. But it would be off their ingenious ways of squeezing
profit out of someone else's work. NOT of THEIR hard earned money. :o)
So, yeah. I am ok with that!
Besides, their articles were valuable in the past, because they were reviews
of apps that they had no stake in, and were un-biased as such. Since now
they are SELLING the apps, the articles amount to nothing more than bloated self-promoting
ads.
Going back to my taxes now.
