I don't have web content on my desktop yet my icons have turned blue twice this year.
The first remedy was to highlight Lock Items on Desktop by right clicking and deselecting
that. Whnn it happened again (after I was changing my screensaver!) I tried this
method again only this time it didn't work. Not being able to find a remedy that
worked for me I went back in to Control panel and fixed it myself through trial and
error and wanted to see if my solution, which worked for me twice today (I tested
it again) would help youi, if like me, you have IE8 and XP Home Edition.
Here's what I did:-
Go into Control Panel
Select' Appearance' Tab
Then 'Change Desktop Background'
Click 'Customize Desktop'
Select 'Web'Tab
Uncheck 'Locked Items'Apply (transparency should return after you click apply) then
click 'OK'
Exit program
Then go back to your desktop
Right Click
Select 'Arrange Icons By'
Select 'Lock Items on Desktop
And you're done.
Hope this helps.'
