re: Fix disk-thrashing probs Friday, August 20, 2010 at 7:25 pm Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by CARAEWRON (1 messages posted) I tried a bunch of things.  I stopped indexing and superfetch.  Nothing changed.  Finally I did the simple thing and the problem disappeared.....I defragmented the hard drive.  In the past when I started to defragment the machine did a scan and reported that the performance was GOOD and defragmentation was not necessary.  Defragmentation worked for me.  It'll be done regularly from now on.
