I have a question about How to Share Files through Windows XP's Internet Connection Firewall:

If I understand correctly as I have 2 xp machines connected into a cisco uBR900 hub/cable modem, I cannot chare files between them without disabling the firewall and allowing the rest of the world acess to my computer - right? does this apply to sharing printers as well? why did microsoft even bother, I had black ice on these machines before I "upgraded" and now I can't even install that with xp alll I want to do is print things from machine A on the printer on machine B without allowing every hacker on the planet easy acess
