I have a question about Connect
to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network:
Here is my network problems. I have a client network using all windows 98. All of
them have been configure with tcp/ip and can share files and see each other every
time i go to network neighborhood. THen later, the manager wanted to upgrade his
old 98 and bought a brand new computer with xp home preinstalled. Whenever The xp
is online, the rest of the network died. You can't see anything and the error message
"Unable to browse the network appear on the windows 98 machines. Strangely enough,
on xp you can see the name of all the computer on the network but when I tried to
connect to them, i got the error "\\name is not accessible, you may not have permission...".
Then i type in the address space "\\192.168.0.2", then it can connect to that computer.
THe same thing did not happened when i put on the address on the win98 machines.
There was not a DNS server or wins server what-so-ever.
The problem is resolved when I took the xp home offline. Then all the 98 seems to
talk to each other again. I tried to put NetBeui on all the machines but still no
luck. ANy one can suggest me for a solution, would be appreciated
