Question about ''Same Window'' vs. ''Own Window''

I have a question about "Same Window" vs. "Own Window" in the Explorer Tools\Folder Options\General tab: For a few days now, XP has been annoying me by opening new windows for each folder I open. And this, even though I have selected "Open each folder in the same window". My screen sure gets filled with folder windows fast! Why would Windows be ignoring my display selection? Is there something I could correct in the Registry? Should I remove Service Pack 1? Should I re-install Windows from the CD-ROM? Thanks for any suggestions! Jeff Schallenberg Saint Lambert, Québec
