I have a question about Getting
Network Neighborhood to recognize newly attached computers:

Hi, me and my friend are trying to connect two desktops, one running on win 98 and the other on xp pro. We're trying to use a LAN cable with no hub(-> network cards), but for some neither of the computers register the cable. I know for a fact that the cable works and the ports aren't busted because i can use it to connect my cable modem to both of the computers. When i try to connect the two computers to eachother with the LAN cable, the lights on the ports don't appear and neither of the computers register new found hardware, this is pissing me off. In case it helps any, what we're trying to do is transfer [mp3] files from one computer to the next. Please help, am in need, thanks crazychicken crzg@iamwasted.com
