I have a question about Top
reasons for random, fatal crashes in Windows XP and Windows 2000:
I started out with this computer:
Amd Duron 700mhz
Biostar M7VKB mobo
320mb RAM
and was experiencing random reboots in XP Pro. I ignored the problem on that PC b/c
I was putting together a new one, which is:
Amd Athlon XP 2600+
Asus A7N8X mobo
512mb RAM
and I am having the same problem as before. The weird thing is that upon reboot Windows
doesn't recognize it as a critical failure however, it does log the error as a small
memory dump. Upon consulting the KB, Microsoft suggested I download their debugger
and attempt to read the dump files. This didn't really help me out. I disabled the
auto-restart function as was suggested and the stop error said win32k.sys was the
fault. I'm not exactly sure of what to do from here.
Would anybody please have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? I checked all
of the possible problems listed in the article but they are not the problem.
Thanks
