I have been trying to install XP Pro on my vaio which came with XP home. Installation kept failing and i read in one of the messages that manually choosing a HAL might help. This did help. I have installed XP pro, but now my machine stops responding at times and I was wondering if that could be because of the HAL i chose. I used the A C P I HAL option during installation. How do i determine what is the appropriate HAL for my machine ? Also, in the BIOS settings I was not able to see the APM options. Does that mean my machine does not support ACPI ??
