Question about 'How do I protect myself against email viruses (such as worms)?'

My copy of Virus Shield recently sent me a message saying that it detected a worm called w32/sddrop.worm.c!p2p which it cannot delete or correct in any way. How to I get rid of this? I backed up my registry...now what? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
