I have a question about Top reasons for random, fatal crashes in Windows XP and Windows 2000:

I have just built a pc with a mate which completely switches off at semi-random times. By this I mean it is fine if i leave it running on windows media player or microsoft word, but if i play video games, use Macromedia Director or even when it tries to do a full format it just switches off! I have a 400 watt power supply, brand new motherboard, 2.6XP Athlon processor, 256 DDR, Geforce 4 FX5200 gc, a case with a fan on the side!!! It cost me a fortune and it's so frustrating when 20 minutes into a task it crashes. I suspect it may be something to do with the processor overheating, but i checked the bios and it seemed ok. I have XP Pro on my system, any ideas??
