I have a question about Making Sure the Correct HAL is Installed:

This all seems fine if you have a system up to look at it. But I have tried several times to do an install of XP Professional, and my system does not seem to want to boot from the CD-Rom. So if I use the 6 boot disks for XP, it goes up to disk 5, then errors out. The error states that I have a missing or corrupted System32\hal.dll. Optionally, if I use my Windows98 system to run the XP CD, it takes all 90 minutes to run the full install, then gives the message: missing or corrupted System32\hal.dll. I've tried everything, including having a buddy try and install from his XP CD. Same result.
