Me too can't get XP & 98 to talk even when connected

OK, I'm having the exact same problem. I can connect desktopXP(guest) to notebook98(host)
including seeing the icon/message showing connection is made but from the XP I can
find no indication anywhere as to how to access the hard drive on 98 in order to
view & select the folders I set up for sharing on it in order to copy over to the
XP. I talked at length with a Compaq rep tonight (that's the new XP) and apparently
Mr. Bill has screwed us by disallowing the DCC to actually communicate even though
it can be physically connected & confirmed as both pcs connected. He was quite a
techno geek & said he thought it must be because of the strict controls XP has written
into it to disallow "unauthorized" files & such being brought into the XP system.
(Nice feature except when it totally negates a positive like DCC.) I have over a
GIG of data files I wanted to move via DCC but it appears I will either have to get
a serial/serial data cable & use the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard on XP or get
a NIC for the notebook98 and network them. I hate Microsoft sometimes. If anyone
hears of a real solution to this actually using the parallel DCC, please advise.
