Desktop annoyance

Can someone please help me with something which has been annoying me for the last
2 days.
On the Desktop Screen of XP under the icons are the names of whatever the icon is
right?Well on mine its showing the names in a background colour, not transparent,
so it looks terrible. How can i get rid of the annoying background colour.Ive tryed
everything on Display properties to get rid of it but nothing works. Its probably
something really simple so somebody please help!!

Easy but Annoying - same thing caught me out for a couple of days.
There are several ways BUT
Right click My Computer
Click properties - bottom of list
System Properties - Advanced Tab
Performance - Click settings
2nd off bottom of the list click to tick - 'Use drop shadows...etc'
Immediate satisfaction!!!
System Properties is available through other routes.
